Rolling Thunder held its first demonstration back in 1988. This group seeks to bring full accountability for prisoners of war and missing in action service members of all U.S. wars. Every Memorial Day, they ride their bikes on a route through Washington, D.C. Staff Sgt. Tim Chambers, also known as The Saluting Marine, has been attending this demonstration for years. The uniform-clad man stands on his feet for the entire event, unwavering in his salute to honor the fallen and missing.
This video from 2012 captures a deeply moving moment between Tim and a female soldier. As she rides past on her motorcycle, she stops in front of him, gets off her bike, and walks up to Tim. She then embraces him, a small yet profoundly emotional gesture that resonates with everyone present. This brief exchange, filled with mutual respect and gratitude, brings tears to many eyes.
